How our coil products are made
DOWA's metal processing business began from the manufacturing of wrought copper and copper alloy products made from copper and zinc as the main raw materials. Since then, we have expanded our business to high-performance copper alloy products with the development of automotive and electronic device markets Here is an overview of the general manufacturing process for coil products.
Manufacturing process diagram
Raw material

Melt casting

The raw materials are mixed according to the specified ingredients and
melted in a melting furnace.
The molten copper is poured into a mold to cast an ingot.
Hot rolling

After heating to a high temperature to homogenize the microstructure of the ingot, it is rolled to a specified thickness and wound into a coil.
Cold rolling

The material is processed to the desired plate thickness, and the characteristics of the material are adjusted using processing strain.
Heat treatment

The desired material properties are produced using heat treatment (deposition hardening, recrystallization, etc.).
Master coil

Plating

「Tin Plating」「SilC platingTM」「Precious Metal Plating (Plating Division)」
Slit

The coil is cut to the desired size (width, length, inner diameter).
